A court in Chapainawabganj today sentenced seven people to life term imprisonment for killing a man in Shibganj upazila of the district in 2015.
The convicts are Suit, 25, Alauddin alias Dubu, 50, Bakar Ali, 48, Lal Mohammad, 46, Israil, 40, Bahar Ali, 35, of Gangarampur village and Md Salauddin, 38, of Namotikri village in the upazila.
Robiul Islam, judge of Chapainawabganj additional district and session judge's court, passed the order in presence of six accused out of seven, reports our correspondent.
The court also fined the seven convicts Tk 10,000 each.
The court also acquitted 13 other accused in the case as the allegations brought against them could not be proved.
According to the prosecution, some people killed farmer Mukul, 30, son of Robiul Islam of Namotikri village near Biyen Bazar on the evening of January 9, 2015 and dumped the body beside a road.
On January 12, the victim's father filed a case against 11 named people and some unidentified people with Shibganj Police Station.
Later, police submitted a charge sheet against 20 people before a district court.
