Hiroshi Uotani’s ‘From the Fields’ at Dhaka Gallery

A week-long solo painting exhibition, From the Fields, by eminent Japanese artist Hiroshi Uotani, is underway at Dhaka Gallery in Banani. It was inaugurated on November 15.

Hiroshi was born and brought up in a small island surrounded by the ocean. Through the exhibition, he looks back on time in the island, where he played in the lush green fields and enjoyed looking at the fish in the ocean. Since childhood, Hiroshi, an avid artist, was fond of drawing sharks.

He enjoys portraying nature in his paintings, which have storytelling elements to them. The exhibition was inaugurated by Naoki Ito, the Ambassador of Japan to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Dr Mohammad Iqbal, the curator of the show, Hiroshi Uotani and Mustapha Khalid Palash, the founder of Dhaka Gallery, addressed the audience at the inauguration.

The exhibition includes a display of 27 oil paintings on canvas of different sizes. It will remain open to all from 3 pm to 8 pm till tomorrow.
