‘Komola Rocket’ wins Hiralal Sen Padak at Amar Bhashar Cholochitra 1425

At the 18th edition of Amar BhasharCholochitra, 18 Bangla feature films produced during the last six decades both in Bangladesh and India were screened. Among the films were Satyajit Ray’s Charulata, Ritwik Ghatok’s Titas Ekti Nadir Naam, Mrinal Sen’s Akaler Sondhane, Zahir Raihan’s Anwara, Saidul AnamTutul’s Adhiyar, Tanvir Mokammel’s Nodir Naam Madhumati, Amjad Hossain’s Bhat De, Anam Biswas’ Debi, Gias Uddin Selim’s Swapnajaal and 

others. Apart from these feature films, the festival also screened a number of short films featuring stories on the 1952 Language Movement to honour our martyrs.  Noor Imran Mithu’s ‘Komola Rocket’ (The Orange Ship) was awarded with this year’s Hiralal Sen Padak. Based on Shahaduzzaman’s stories Moulik and Cyprus, Komola Rocket revolves around passengers of a steamer ship.  The film stars Tauquir Ahmed, Mosharraf Karim and Samia among others.

The award ceremony was held on the fourth day of Amar Bhashar Cholochitro 1425 at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) Auditorium of Dhaka University where producer Faridur Reza Sagar received the award on behalf of the Komola Rocket team. The Honourable Information Minister, Dr Hasan Mahmud, handed over the award to Sagar.
