Sarod maestro Ustad Shahadat Hossain Khan no more

Ekushey Padak winning sarod player Ustad Shahadat Hossain Khan passed away due to Covid-19 at a city hospital. He was 62.

The noted musician breathed his last at Crescent Hospital on November 28, 2020. His nephew, Rayan Quddus, shared the news on social media.

He was admitted to the hospital 12 days ago, after being diagnosed with Covid-19.

"He made great contribution to classical music," noted Nazrul Sangeet exponent Nashid Kamal posted on the Facebook group of Nazrul Shongeet Shilpi Porishod.

Ustad Shahadat Hossain Khan was born in 1958. He is the only son of Ustad Abed Hossain Khan.

He is the grandson of Ustad Ayet Ali Khan— the youngest brother of Ustad Alauddin Khan— and nephew of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and Ustad Bahadur Khan.

He left behind his wife, two daughters and a host of admirers and students.
