Sheena Chohan recites poem for Kireet Khurana’s ‘Pravasi’

Celebrated Indian actor Sheena Chohan recited the poem in the Bengali version of Pravasi (The Migrants), an animated short film about the plight of migrant workers amid the pandemic. The film is helmed by six-time National Film Award winner, Kireet Khurana. The Hindi and English versions of the poem were recorded by Taapsee Pannu, and it has been dubbed in several other Indian languages. The animation director of the film is Vivekananda Roy Ghatak.

"The ongoing pandemic has left migrant workers in distress. I recited the poem for Pravasi because it sums up the sense of abandonment that so many Indians are feeling right now," says Sheena, who grew up in Kolkata. "I hope that the poem and the film remind us of the suffering of the workers and encourage us to help them, as much as we can. It is a powerful film."

Sheena won the Miss Kolkata title when she was in school, and she has worked with noted directors Buddadeb Dasgupta and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. Furthermore, she was nominated for Best Actress in the Shanghai and Dubai Film Festivals. Her forthcoming projects include the Disney Hotstar show, City Of Dreams, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, and the play Extremities, directed by Hidayat Sami, which will be staged at Prithvi Theatre.
