Lal Jomin's 200th show today

Shunyan Repertory Theatre's signature monologue, Lal Jomin, is set to reach the landmark of its 200th staging today at BATC auditorium in the capital city. Biman Bangladesh will organise the show. Premiered in May 19, 2011, the monologue is based on the struggle of a woman during the liberation war of 1971 and it's aftermath. This one-woman show, performed by Momena Chowdhury, is written by noted playwright Mannan Heera and directed by Sudip Chakroborthy. Lal Jomin is a poignant tale of a 13-year-old girl in a war-torn Bangladesh.

Since the opening of the show in 2011, this play has been supported by Theatre department in Dhaka University, Quantum Method, Aranyak Natya Dal, Janata Bank, Bangladesh Biman, Group Theatre Federation, Shilpakala Academy, British Council, among many theatre troupes and organisations, both home and abroad. Recently, Lal Jomin has received a grant from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs to perform all over the country.

The director and the actor expressed gratitude to all those who have supported the play throughout its journey.
