August 21, 2004 was a ghastly chapter in the political history of Bangladesh.
In a clear attempt to erase the top leadership of the then opposition Awami League and its President Sheikh Hasina, a grenade attack was carried out in a crowded rally on Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka leaving 24 dead and scores injured.
Farida Malek, secretary for women affairs of ward 19 awami league Dhaka, Abul Hossain Mollah, active member of Titas gas officers welfare association and Mahbuba Pervin, vice president of Dhaka district awamisechasebok league were on the spot and survived the horror.
