Ruling Awami League MP Mahbubul Alam Hanif, also the party's joint general secretary, has tested positive for Covid-19 today.
The lawmaker from Kushtia-3 is being treated at his home in Dhaka.
"I have been suffering from fever for the last three days and have tested positive for Covid-19. The test report came positive today. I urge the countrymen to pray for my early recovery," he told The Daily Star.
Hanif, who had attended the ongoing special session of the Jatiya Sangsad on Monday, said except for fever he is not feeling any other health complications so far.
Earlier on November 7, six lawmakers including Habibun Nahar, deputy minister for environment, forest and climate change affairs ministry, tested positive for Covid-19.
Sources at the parliament secretariat said some 50 lawmakers have been infected with Covid-19 so far. Of them, Mohammad Nasim, lawmaker from Sirajganj-1 and a presidium member of AL, and M Israfil Alam, lawmaker from Naogaon-6, died from Covid-19 infection.
