The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) today banned 43 products of different brands, including some well-known and regional ones.
It collected samples of the products from the open market and found them to be low quality in tests at its laboratory, BSTI said in a statement today.
It also issued show cause notices to the companies involved.
The BSTI said that manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers and retailers should refrain from selling and distributing the products and also asked the products' commercial advertisements be stopped until those meet the quality standards.
Besides, the companies will have to recall the goods from the market.
