Three High Court (HC) judges have been asked to refrain from judicial works on unspecified reason and their names were dropped from its today’s cause-list.
After the three HC judges were informed about the decision of keeping them refrained from performing judicial functions, they sought leave from the authorities concerned.
“Decision of keeping three honourable judges refrained from judicial activities was informed to them on advice from the honourable president against the backdrop of a primary inquiry against them. And then they prayed for leave,” Mohammad Saifur Rahman, a special officer and spokesperson of the Supreme Court said in a press release.
He did not disclose names of the three judges who have been kept away from doing judicial works and the allegations on which the enquiry was going on.
Contacted, Saifur Rahman told The Daily Star that he did not know whether the leave of the three judges was granted or not.
Four of the total 92 HC judges have been on leave from earlier for performing hajj and treatment,said Mohammad RezaulHaque, personal secretary (PS) to the chief justice.
Meanwhile, Attorney General MahbubeyAlammet Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain at his SC office and then talked to reportersin this regard this afternoon.
He told reporters that the chief justice has decided to keep three HC judges refrained from judicial activities in consulting with the president after discussing with other judges of the Appellate Division of the SC.
