At least 50 CCTV cameras have been set up on the 22-kilometre stretch from Aminbazar to Nabinagar on Dhaka-Aricha highway recently, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary.
The IGP said this while inaugurating the “CCTV Project and Police Monitoring Watch Centre Project” at Savar Model Police Station as the chief guest yesterday.
Setting up CCTV cameras on the highway will play an important role in ensuring security and safety of the passengers, he said.
It will also help police monitor traffic system, illegal parking and road accidents, he added.
High officials of police, government officials and political leaders were present during the inauguration programme.
