Possession of Yaba

2 JnU students sent to jail

A Dhaka court yesterday sent two students of Jagannath University (JnU) to jail in connection with a case for possession of yaba.

The arrestees, both activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s JnU unit, are Md Nikson of accounting and information systems department and Shahriar Rahman Shanto of mathematics department.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sayeed passed the order after the two were produced before the court.

Police filed a case against Nikson and Shanto with Gendaria Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act after arresting them with seven pieces of yaba at Dhupkhola ground of JnU in Old Dhaka yesterday.

Earlier, on February 4, Shanto was suspended from the university for violating discipline of the university.

Nikson was released by police on January 9 after detaining him earlier that day with paraphernalia for taking yaba at Goalghat Lane in Old Dhaka.
