A five-storey residential building at Kamrangirchar in Old Dhaka tilted to its north yesterday.
“All residents of the building and its adjoining establishments have been evacuated,” said Director (Training) Lt Col Siddique Mohammad Julfiqur Rahman of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Connections of electricity and gas to the building have been cut off, he added.
Shahin Fakir, officer-in-charge of Kamrangirchar Police Station, told the news agency that the five-storey building was built in the area six months ago, and one Samad Mia bought it from the previous owner Shaheen in January.
The firefighting unit members said the building was built without doing the pilling work properly.
