Eminent poet Al Mahmud was laid to rest in his family graveyard at Dakhhin Mourail after a third namaz-e-janaza on Niaz Mohammad High School ground in Brahmanbaria town yesterday.
People from all walks of life paid tribute to the poet.
The poet breathed his last around 11pm on Friday at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Ibn Sina Hospital in Dhaka's Dhanmondi area. He was 82.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held on Bangla Academy premises on Saturday, while the second one was held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
Al Mahmud was honoured with Ekushey Padak, Bangla Academy Award, and Kabi Jasimuddin Award in recognition of his contribution to Bangla literature.
