BNP leader Mosharraf Hossain dies

Former state minister and BNP leader AKM Mosharraf Hossain died at a private hospital in Dhaka today. He was 83.

He breathed his last around 8:31pm at Labaid hospital while undergoing treatment, said the party's press wing said.

Party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock at his death.

AKM Mosharraf Hossain had long been suffering from different ailments before being diagnosed with Covid-19 and later admitted to Lab Aid Hospital on September 29, Dr Jahid Hossain, a vice-chairman of BNP, told The Daily Star.

His first namaz-e-janaza will be held tomorrow (Sunday) at Mymensingh Eidgah Ground after Zuhr prayer and then a second janaza will be held at Muktagachha playing ground after Asr prayers.

He will be buried at family graveyard in Muktagachha of Mymensingh.
