Drug peddler stabbed dead in Sabujbagh: police

A drug peddler was stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants in Sabujbagh area of Dhaka last night, police said.

The body of Nazrul Islam Nadir (24), a resident of Bashabo area, bore stab marks, they said.

Nadir's sister Sheuly Begum said her brother left home yesterday afternoon along with Tk 2,500 for Eid shopping.

He was stabbed near a garage in Sabujbagh area in the evening, she said.

Hearing his screams, locals rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 8:30pm, she said quoting locals.

Khandoker Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sabujbagh Police Station, said Nadir was a drug peddler and he might have been killed over a feud.

Police came to know the names of some suspected killers and they are trying to arrest them, he said.
