Former AL lawmaker Maqbul Hossain dies

Former Awami League lawmaker from Dhaka's Mohammadpur-Dhanmondi constituency Haji Maqbul Hossain passed away tonight while undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital in the capital.

He was 70.

Haji Maqbul was also a member of AL's advisory council.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of Bangladesh Awami League, condoled the death of Maqbul and expressed her sympathy to the bereaved family of the deceased.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader also expressed condolences to the family of Haji Maqbul. 

Maqbul died around 9:30pm at CMH while undergoing treatment, Sheikh Fazlur Rahman, president of AL Dhaka Metropolitan (North), told The Daily Star.

He was admitted to the hospital on Friday with fever, Fazlur Rahman said.

He has left behind his wife, son and daughter, and many well-wisher
