Mamata, a Chattogram-based NGO, has celebrated its 37th founding anniversary amid much enthusiasm and festivity.
On the occasion, Mamata honoured four distinguished personalities from different backgrounds on Friday, for their significant contributions to the society, said a press release.
They are: MA Malek, editor of Dainik Azadi; Sabiha Nahar, former lawmaker and founding general secretary of Mamata; Jashim Uddin, a deputy managing director of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation; and Mofizur Rahman, a beneficiary of Mamata.
The NGO also arranged various programmes -- including rally, discussion and award-giving ceremony -- to mark the day, the release added.
Chattogram city Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, Deputy Director of Department of Social Services Mohammed Shahidul Islam, and top officials from Mamata -- including its President Badiuzzaman Khan Noni, General Secretary Mansur Masud and Chief Executive Rafique Ahamed -- spoke at the events.
