Man held over 'derogatory remark' on PM, army chief

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday arrested a man, allegedly for posting distorted photographs of eminent persons including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and chief of Army, and derogatory remarks about them on Facebook.

The arrestee is Nazrul Islam, 35, a trader and resident of Muladi upazila in Barishal, said Major Sajibul Islam Sajib, deputy commander of Rab-8.

On information that Nazrul posted distorted photos and derogatory remarks about eminent personalities on Facebook, a team of Rab arrested him from a shop, he added.

Filing of a case under the Digital Security Act was underway, the official said.
