North South University (NSU) yesterday observed International Mother Language Day with due solemnity.
On the occasion, MA Hashem, chairman of board of trustees, NSU; Prof Atiqul Islam, vice chancellor; Prof Dr GU Ahsan, pro-VC (designate); Prof Gour Gobinda Goswami, treasurer, along with deans of different schools, faculty members, administration staff and students placed floral wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar and the university Shaheed Minar to pay tributes to the language martyrs, said a press release.
A discussion was also arranged in which Syed Anwar Hossain, professor and Bangabandhu Chair, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), was the keynote speaker while poet and media personality Asad Chowdhury was present as the guest speaker. The programme was chaired by Prof Atiqul Islam, vice chancellor, NSU.
Prof GU Ahsan and Prof Gour Gobinda Goswami were also present among others during the programme.
