Police Week Ends: Promise to end militancy, drugs

The five-day Police Week 2019 ended yesterday, with law enforcers promising to eradicate militancy and narcotics from the country, and committing to ensure harassment-free and people-friendly policing.

The government has already declared a war against narcotics, so everyone needs to give maximum efforts together to eradicate the menace from the country, police officials said at the “roundup conference” at Rajarbagh Police Lines yesterday.

Superintendents of police (SPs) and the unit commanders outside Dhaka joined the conference with Inspector General of Police Mohammad Javed Patwary in the chair.

Sources said the police officers were in festive mood, as all of their demands have got a positive nod from the government. Besides, they expressed satisfaction as the prime minister spent two full days with them.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the five-day long event on February 4.
