Police yesterday recovered the body of a woman from a bamboo forest in Ashulia area of Savar.
In the morning, locals spotted the body in the forest beside Kathgora mosque and informed police.
The body bore several injury marks, said Miraz Hossen, sub-inspector of Ashulia Police Station, suspecting, that the victim might have been raped before being murdered.
Police sent the body to Shahed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The 26-year-old victim rented a room in a house in Kathora area two months ago, SI Miraz said quoting the house owner.
Her parents died couple of years ago and her husband abandoned her a year back, the SI added.
Meanwhile, a relative of the victim has been detained for interrogation.
