Covid-19: Recovery number crosses 2.5 lakh mark

36 die, 1,593 infected, 2,443 recover in 24 hours

The total number of people who recovered from Covid-19 so far in the country has reached 2,50,412 with 2,443 new recoveries recorded in the last 24 hours, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The recovery rate stands at 72.74 percent.

Thirty-six people have died from Covid-19 in the country in the meantime, the release added.

The total number of deaths has now reached 4,859 and the death rate stands at 1.41 percent.

A total of 1,593 new infections were recorded during last 24 hours taking the total number of people infected to 3,44,264, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 11.65 percent, while the total positivity rate stands at 19.30 percent.

A total of 1,36,73 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours.

Bangladesh is currently 15th in the list of worst affected countries in the world in terms of the number of cases.

The position is one step ahead of Saudi Arabia and one step behind the United Kingdom, according to worldometer.info.

Among the deceased, 28 were male and eight were female, while two were within 21-30 years old, one between 31-40, five within 41-50, seven between 51-60 and 21 were above 60 years old.
