Jagannath University student tests positive for coronavirus

A female student of Jagannath University (JnU), who lives in Dhaka's Uttara with her family, has tested positive for Covid-19.

IEDCR last night confirmed that she was infected with coronavirus, the 19-year-old told The Daily Star.

She said, "On April 5, I called a hotline number of the IEDCR as I suffered from some coronavirus-like symptoms for one week."

On April 6, a team of IEDCR collected her samples, she said.

She said, "I went out of home on March 24. I went to the Khilket area for tuitions by a public bus."

"Today an IEDCR team will come to my house to take me to a hospital where Covid-19 patients are being treated," she added.

Contacted, JnU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mijanur Rahman said, "We talked to the student's family today. They told us she feels better now."

The authorities would extend any kind of help if the student needs, the VC added.
