A court in Patuakhali today sent two policemen to jail in a case filed for taking over Tk 13 lakh bribe from a person last year.
Md Shamim Akand, 46, a sub-inspector of Dhaka's Mohammadpur Police Station, and his brother Md Al Amin Akand, 35, constable of Barguna Sadar Police Station, were sent to jail after they surrendered before the court in the case, our Patuakhali correspondent reports.
The duo appeared before the court today as the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Aminul Islam yesterday issued arrest warrants against them, said Prosecutor Ariful Haque Titu.
The case filed by one Md Motinur Rahman claiming that the two policemen took over Tk 13 lakh bribe from him with a promise to arrange a job in police for his son in 2018. But they did not keep their promise, he said.
Later, the court ordered Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the case.
Recently, PBI submitted the probe report against the duo saying that they found evidence of taking bribe by the duo from Motinur, a resident of Patuakhali Sadar.
