An on-duty police constable was found dead on a char in the Meghna River of Chandpur Sadar upazila today.
The reason behind the death was not clear immediately but police suspect that he might have been killed by assailants.
Harun-ur-Rashid, 50, went missing around 2:30pm while four to five policemen, led by a sub-inspector, were patrolling in the river on a speedboat, reports our Chandpur correspondent.
Harun remained traceless for around half an hour after he went to Lugnimara Char in the upazila responding to nature’s call, said Md Amir Zafar, superintendent of police in Chandpur.
Police recovered his body from a distance place from where he went missing around 4:30pm, the SP added.
