Four hurt as AL factions clash

At least four people were injured in a clash between two factions of Awami League over taking control of the venue of the prime minister's meeting at Jessore Eidgah ground in the town yesterday morning.

The injured are Jessore Jubo League member Rajibul Alam and Ashraful Kabir Shikder, president of ward No 6 unit of Jubo League, and Imam Hossain and Biplob of the town.

The injured were admitted to Jessore 250-bed General Hospital, said AKM Azmal Huda, officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotwali Model Police Station.

When the supporters of ruling party lawmaker Nabil Ahmed tried to enter the meeting venue with a procession around 10:30am, the men of Jessore district AL general secretary Shaheen Chaklader barred them, triggering a clash, said the OC.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, however, addressed the rally at Jessore Eidgah ground around 3:00pm, said the police official.  b
