A man was killed in the premises of a temple in Bogura Sadar upazila early today.
Police said, feud between two groups of criminals led to the murder.
The deceased was identified as Subrata alias Samrat Das, 27, son of Kalipad Das of Sabgram village in Bogura Sadar.
The incident took place around 1am in front of the Durga temple at Sabgram Bazar area.
Samrat was crossing the area with a motorbike when at least five-six men attacked him from behind with bamboo sticks and sharp weapons, reports our correspondent quoting Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of the Sadar Police Station.
Samrat tried to hide in the temple premise. But the men found him and attacked him with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot, said the OC.
There are four cases filed with different police stations against Samrat including for murder, arms possession and robbery, said Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan, superintendent of Bogura Police.
Samrat was released from jail on bail a few days ago.
"I have visited the spot. We identified the group that committed the murder, said SP Ali Ashraf.
Locals said Samrat had been an activist of the local unit of Jatiyatabadi Sechchhasebak Dal in the past. In 2011, he joined the union unit of Jubo League.
When contacted, Shuvashish Podder Liton, president of the Bogura district Jubo League unit, said that, Samrat is the main accused of Jubo League leader Manik murder case.
"He had no involvement with Jubo League," he said.
