B’baria farmer dies with Covid-19 symptoms at DMCH

A 45-year-old farmer from Brahmanbaria's Banchharampur upazila has died with symptoms of coronavirus infection at Dhaka Medical College Hospital's isolation ward.

The man died in the evening on Tuesday, Dr Mohammad Ekram Ullah, civil surgeon of Brahmanbaria, confirmed to The Daily Star yesterday.

The patient, a resident of Charchoyani village under Aiubpur union in the upazila, was admitted to the upazila health complex on April 6 with the symptoms of coronavirus including fever, dry cough and breathing complications, said Dr Md Al Mamun, health and family planning officer in the upazila.

He had been suffering from the symptoms for six to seven days before being admitted to the health complex, the official said, adding that the patient was referred to DMCH for Covid-19 test.

His test report was yet to be delivered, the official added.

No information could be found regarding whether the person came in contact with any foreign returnee.

All who may have come in contact with the deceased will be placed on home quarantine, Nasir Uddin Sorwar, Banchharampur upazila nirbahi officer (UNO), told The Daily Star.
