Case filed against Nur for ‘derogatory remarks’ on govt, state institutions

A case has been filed against Nurul Haque Nur, former vice-president of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu), with a Brahmanbaria court for making "derogatory remarks" on the government and several government institutions during a Facebook live session.

Brahmanbaria District Chhatra League President Rabiul Hossain Rubel filed the case with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Ayesha Begum this morning.

The magistrate will hear the case later, reports our correspondent quoting the plaintiff's lawyer Advocate Ekram Hossain.

According to the case statement, Nur appeared on Facebook live on December 16 where he tried to instigate people, making "derogatory comments" about the government and several government institutions.

Besides, Nur termed the Election Commission as "useless commission", said the case statement.

The case statement also said Nur had mentioned the plaintiff's name on Facebook live and made indecent remarks about him.
