DU expels 67 students on different charges

46 suspended

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities today expelled 67 students for their involvement in admission test forgery, drug abuse and possessing illegal arms.

Besides, 46 other students were suspended for different terms for their involvement in anti-disciplinary activities.

The Disciplinary Board of the university took the decision at a meeting earlier in the day.

Of them, 63 were expelled for their involvement in admission test forgery and four others were expelled for drug abuse and possessing illegal arms.

Meanwhile, 13 students were suspended for mugging, two suspended for two months for beating journalists while 31 students for different terms for cheating in the internal examinations of their respective departments.

The university authority also issued a show-cause notice against the 13 students who were suspended for mugging and asked them to submit their explanation within seven days.

Confirming about the development, DU Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbai said the university authorities would not spare anyone involved in any anti-disciplinary activities.

On June 23 last year, the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) of Police placed charge-sheet against 125 students, including 87 students who were expelled and suspended today, at a Dhaka court.
