Farmer hacked to death

A farmer was hacked to death at Rajachar village in Madaripur’s Kalkini upazila yesterday morning.

The deceased was Ziabul Mollah, 30, son of Dhalu Mollah of the village.

Locals said there was a longstanding conflict between Dhalu Mollah and Mahbub Bapary of the village over establishing supremacy in the area.

Supporters of Mahbub attacked Ziabul with a sharp weapon when he was erecting a fence at a local graveyard yesterday morning.

Critically injured Ziabul was rushed to the upazila health complex and then referred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital as his condition worsened.

He died on way to the hospital, said Md Mofazzel Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kalkini Police Station.

The body was sent to Madaripur General Hospital for autopsy, said the OC.
