Orphanage teacher arrested over molesting students

Two girls complained after days of ordeal

A teacher was arrested on charge of sexually harassing two girls of an orphanage in Narua union under Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari district yesterday.

The arrestee is Rabiul Islam, 29, of Kholia Madhupur village in the union. He is an assistant teacher of Modhupur Parijat Etimkhana and Briddhasram, an institution housing orphans and old people, said police.

Nur Mohammad, sub-inspector (SI) of Baliakandi Police Station, said Rabiul had been sexually harassing the two fourth graders of the institution in its bathroom for the last few days.

The victims informed the authorities of the orphanage about the matter on Monday.

Faruk Aahmed, vice chairman of the institution, later filed a case with the police station, accusing Rabiul.

Police arrested Rabiul from his house early yesterday, said the SI.

The arrestee was later produced before a court that sent him to jail, said the police official.
