Trivial matter costs his life

A teenage boy was stabbed to death allegedly over a trifling matter in Morrelganj upazila of the district on Friday night.

The deceased, 16-year-old Emon was son of late Mamun Molla of Chandipur village under Chingrakhali union of the upazila.

In suspicion, police detained three youths from the village for quizzing.

Officer in Charge (OC) of Morrelganj Police Station KM Azizul Haque said Emon had an altercation with one of his friends over a trifling matter when they went to attend a waz mahfil (religious programme) around 10:00pm.

At one stage, Emon's friend called him out of the waz mahfil and later he along with some of his cohorts stabbed Emon with a knife, leaving him dead on the spot, the OC said.

Being informed by the villagers, police recovered the body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he added.
