A video of the officer-in-charge of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station went viral on social media that shows him taking bribe money from some people in connection with filing a "false case".
In the video, OC Mahfuz Alam was seen rubbing his hands with hand sanitiser and then accepting Tk 10,000 from the family members of a money lender in Lalmonirhat over filing a "false case" against their opponents.
The OC was also seen in the video keeping the money in his pocket and asking them to give more money, and giving directions on how to harass their opponents with the false case.
"A three-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident and action will be taken if the OC is found guilty in the probe report," Abida Sultana, superintendent of Lalmonirhat police, told The Daily Star.
Contacted, OC Mahfuz refused to make any comment in this regard.
