Man stabbed dead for resisting rape bid on his niece in Chuadanga

Criminal beaten dead

A criminal was beaten dead by an angry mob after he reportedly killed a man who resisted his attempt of rape on the latter’s six-grader niece in Chuadanga Sadar upazila this morning.

The person who was killed in the mob beating was identified as Akbor Ali, 26, of Modna village in Damurhuda upazila of the district

Akbor stabbed Hasanuzzaman Ali, 26, to death after being resisted by him during attempt to rape Hasanuzzaman’s niece at the victim’s house at Amirpur village, reports our Kushtia correspondent quoting Abu Jihad Md Fakrul Alam Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chuadanga Sadar Police Stattion.

During the incident, the victim and her grandfather Ahmedul Islam also suffered injuries. Of them, the condition of the grandfather was critical, the OC said.

Vegetable vendor Akbor Ali around 7:30am came to the victim’s house and found her sleeping. Akbor took advantage of the situation and attempted to rape the girl, the police official said.

Hearing cry of the girl, Hasanuzzaman, the victim’s maternal uncle, rushed to the spot from the next door and tried to prevent Akbor, who then stabbed him leaving him dead on the spot.

Akbor also stabbed the girl and her grandfather.

By this time, neighbours rushed to the spot and caught him red-handed. They beat Akbor to death on the spot, the police official added.

The victim and his grandfather were admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital. Later Ahmedul was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH). The girl was handed over to her family after been given treatment.

Akbor was beaten by a mob once earlier at Modna village, the OC said. The villagers then ousted Akbor and since then he had been living at Amirpur village.
