Police yesterday detained 16 boys from Dhaka's Hatirjheel area for allegedly harassing visitors there. They were later handed over to their parents upon receiving undertaking as they were not accused in any cases.
Hatirjheel police carried out the drive after a citizen complained on the Police Headquarters' (PHQ) Facebook page that people are being harassed during their visits at Hatirjheel, said a PHQ press release.
Additional police forces in uniform, plainclothes and patrol teams were deployed to ensure safety and security of the visitors, it added.
Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Hatirjheel Police Station, said they have started patrolling the area and it will continue.
