Authorities have asked the immigration police to remain alert so that Regent Group chairman Md Shahed, who is accused in a case filed over Covid-19 certificate forgery, cannot leave the country.
"We have received an official letter to bar him from leaving the country. We are acting accordingly," said an official of Immigration Police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
"All immigration points have been alerted," he added.
Earlier on Tuesday night, Rab filed a case against Shahed and 16 staffers of Regent group and Regent hospitals after a mobile court found proof that the hospital authorities issued fake Covid-19 certificates and charged patients for test and treatment, violating an agreement with the government.
The mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Sarwoer Alam sealed off Regent Group head office and Uttara and Mirpur branches of Regent Hospital.
Directorate General of Health Services has also asked regent hospital authorities to shut down the hospital immediately.
Meanwhile, Rab arrested Shahed's associate Tariqul Islam from Nakhalapara and seized some documents this morning, said Sujoy Sarker, assistant director of Rab's Legal and Media wing.
With Tariqul, Rab so far arrested nine staffers of Regent Hospital. Eights others, who were arrested during a drive on Monday, are on five-day remand.
