Shela crowned Miss Universe Bangladesh 2019

On the evening of Wednesday, 23 October, Shirin Akter Shela was crowned as winner of the first Miss Universe Bangladesh pageant. Bollywood actress, and former Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen crowned her in front of an A-list crowd in Dhaka on Wednesday evening.

Alisha Islam and Jessia Islam have respectively become the first and the second runner-up at the finale. The registration process of Miss Universe Bangladesh 2019 began in July, and started off with 12,000 individuals. 

As Miss Universe Bangladesh 2019, Shela will compete at the 63rd edition of the pageant in the United States of American this December. She will be one of the contestants from 130 different countries in the world.

Judges at the grand finale were Sushmita Sen, Bollywood actress and former winner, Miss Universe title; Tahsan Khan, singer and actor; Kaniz Almas, managing director, Persona; Tootli Rahman, president, Bangladesh Heritage Craft; Rubaba Dowla, founder, Pulse Health Care; Farzanah Chowdhury, managing director, Green Delta Insurance; Rafiul Islam, managing director, Flora Bank; Dr Zareen Delawar Hussain; Athar Ali Khan, former cricketer, and sports commentator; and Star Faruque, Former Miss Ventura County California & Johnson County USA.

The franchise owner for Bangladesh Miss Universe is a consortium between RIZ events and Off Track & Trilogy. Rizwan Bin Farouq is the Chairman of Miss Universe Bangladesh and Sohel A Chaklader Duke, Shafik Islam, Mithun Zaman are directors.
