Celebrities taking a trip to the 'GORUR-HAAT'

The festive season of Eid-ul-Adha is a time of spending quality time with loved ones, going to the 'gorur-haat' days before Eid with one's family and cooking great feasts at home. Our leading ladies of the showbiz world, too, have lots to do in the weeks leading up to Eid. This week, they share their favourite memories of visiting the 'gorur-haat' and more.

“When I was younger, I would always get really attached to the cow we brought home. So, the morning of the Qurbani was a tough time for me. After I became an actor, I did go to the gorur-haat a few times, but I had to do so quite discreetly. I went to the haat wearing a burkha because people always recognise me.”

SUMAIYA SHIMU

“I have only been to the gorur-haat once. There is one close to my house in Banani. So, I took a trip with my family members at night. It was really crowded. We had to cut our trip short because people started to recognise me and take videos.”

TOMA MIRZA

“Usually, people from my home go to the haat during Eid-ul-Adha. Sometimes, we buy it from our village. I once visited the Qurbani haat with my mother. I did not want people to notice me, so I went out wearing a scarf on my head. But somehow, people started to recognise me. On top of that, the traders started asking for a higher price for the cow! So, after that, I left and asked others to go buy the cow.”

BUBLI

“I bought our cow for Eid-ul-Adha on my own once. I have many fond memories of buying the cow. It stayed at our home downstairs and everyone happily took care of it. So, it was difficult to bid farewell to the cow when the time came.”
