Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said a vested quarter is spreading rumours on social media to mislead people over the coronavirus issue and party men must be alert to curb those.
"Efforts are being hatched to mislead people by spreading rumours on social media over coronavirus. Leaders and activists of our party will have to remain alert to curb the rumours," Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said.
Quader gave the instruction to his party's rank and file through a video message from his residence in Dhaka this noon.
In his message, Quader also pointed out that doctors, nurses and all health service providers were discharging their duties to contain the spread of the virus.
Calling upon everyone to comply with the 31-point directives of the prime minister, Quader said people are suffering from food crisis and the government has stood beside the countrymen with all-out effort.
He also asked public representatives and the affluent people to come forward to help face this crisis.
