Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali will visit Myanmar soon to see the condition in Rakhine State before starting the repatriation of forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals from Bangladesh.
Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque said the minister will go to see himself the progress so far made by the Myanmar side regarding the repatriation process of Rohingya refugees. However, the dates for the visit are yet to be finalised.
Responding to queries after an inauguration of workshop on Maritime Counter-Terrorism at Westin Hotel in Dhaka this morning, he said the minister will also see progress of housing facilities, movement as well as livelihood of the Rohingya after their return to their homeland.
The foreign secretary hoped that the repatriation process is to start soon.
