If you're like me and you run a Xiaomi or any of the new age Chinese smart phones, then you know that the built-in voice recording tool isn't very good. This is because all of these phones have noise cancellation enabled, doesn't allow for microphone calibration, and the sample rate is set to 16 kHz. All of this means that the output you get from these default recorders is criminally bad. This is where apps like “Smart Recorder – High quality voice recorder” make a significant difference.
I've been using Smart Recorder for a couple of years now and the difference in quality is unprecedented. This nifty little tool has room for a lot of customisation as well. It lets you record at different sample rates, being able to record at 44.1 kHZ, which is CD audio level quality. You can set the microphone calibration to manual too, meaning it can calibrate itself to the amount of noise it captures; it buffers and equalises more for louder noises, and for the quieter sounds it calibrates the microphone's gain at a higher rate. What all of this audio jargon means is that, unlike your phones default recorder, Smart Recorder has no default restrictions in place, allowing it to record at the best possiblequality. This app is ad free as well and not intrusive about recording phone calls. It does what it's supposed to do – it records audio, and does it well.
