UAP holds orientation programme for Fall 2018

The orientation programme for the newly enrolled students of Fall 2018 was held at UAP Plaza on October 6, 2018.

National Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, VC, UAP delivered his welcome speech for newly enrolled students. In his remarks, he advised the freshers about their expected behaviour at UAP.

Among others, Dr. M. Alauddin, Acting Chairman, BOT; Alhaj Abdul Malek Mollah Member, BOT; Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir, Pro-VC; Air Commodore (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer; Sarwar R. Chowdhury, Registrar; Prof. Dr. Abu Sayeed Mostaque Ahmed; Proctor and two alumni members addressed the programme.

Heads and faculty members of the Departments also guardians of the students attended the function.

Cider International School  hosts Junior School Music Fest 2018

CIDER International School held a music fest for the students and parents of Junior School on September 26, 2018. It was a glorious and inspiring event as we got to see the diverse talents and skills of our students and of the parents who participated. The theme of the fest was traditional folk and fusion music. It brought enjoyment and encouraged all students to learn and to build interests in musical activities. Students got the opportunity to learn and to show their talents through creative performances such as dancing, singing, acting, hosting, and so many more fun activities. There were numerous groups from Play Group to Class 5, who took part in the event. The Junior School students proudly hosted the entire show as well.

This event helped increase their level of self-confidence, creativity, intellectual curiosity, self-esteem, and building camaraderie among students as they were able to learn about many ways to prove themselves in different fields and activities along with their studies in a fun environment. The show was illuminated with the presence of Principal G C Tripathi. Junior School Vice Principal, Neeti Tripathi gave her vote of thanks. The chief guest of the event was Rumman Ahmed, Owner of The Hide Out, Director of Wind of Change, Chairman of Hammer Strength, Managing Editor of CLICK, and Chairman of Habib Tazkira's. The guest of honour was Ahmed Razeeb, Founder Director of Chittagong Music Society and his wife Neela Naz, both popular musicians from Chittagong. It was an amazing, successful event that inspired and motivated the young artists to explore their skills though various activities along with the academic activities the school provides.

IUBAT organises national HR conference on Brain Engineering

On October 5, 2018 IUBAT Brain Engineering Research Group (IBERG) and Massive Star Studio Ltd jointly organised the very first national HR conference on Brain Engineering. The daylong session was held in IUBAT's scenic campus in Uttara, Dhaka. The VC of IUBAT, Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, welcomed the distinguished guests. The key speaker was S. M. Mahabub Alam, Managing Director, Massive Star Studio Ltd. and President, Brain Engineering Forum. He captivated an audience of about 80 HR directors and general managers from reputed organisations including S Alam Group, Nitol Motors, BSHRM etc.

Alam disseminated knowledge on Brain Science, Neuroplasticity, Neuro management and its impact on management processes, Brain Engineering at G2G (Good to Great), and the Science of Perception and Biology of Management. Prof. Dr. Bishwajit Saha, Group Leader, IBERG and Coordinator, EEE Department, IUBAT was the convener; welcome addresses were delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Tareque Aziz, Dean, College of Business Administration, IUBAT and Prof. Dr. Mostofa Akbar, Head, Dept. of CSE, BUET. In addition, an introduction to the research initiatives of IBERG was presented by Dr. Muammer Din Arif, IBERG member and IUBAT faculty member in ME.

The programme concluded with a promise of collaboration among the universities, government organisations, corporate bodies, and IBERG Researchers present at the event.


BUFT Pro-VC receives UK Medal for Education

Country's leading textile expert Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro-VC of BUFT, has been awarded “The Textile Institute, UK Holden Medal for Education 2018” for his outstanding contribution to textile technology-based education at all levels.

The Textile Institute, UK handed over this special award at an award giving ceremony which was held on July 25, 2018 at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, UK during the Textile Institute World Conference 2018.


IUB holds the IUB-ILSA-OPDAT workshop

Independent University Bangladesh (IUB), in cooperation with the International Law Students Association Bangladesh (ILSA) and the Office of Prosecutorial Development Assistance Training (OPDAT), U.S. Department of Justice, organised a two-day long workshop titled “Post-Jessup Workshop: Orchestrating the Future, Analyzing the Past” from September 26-27, 2018.

The workshop was conducted by Greg Davis, Intermittent Legal Advisor, Department of Justice, US Embassy Dhaka and Eric Opanga, Resident Legal Advisor, US Department of Justice, OPDAT, US Embassy, Dhaka. Participants of Jessup Moot Court Competition from the Law Schools/Departments of 18 public and private universities and the observer team from IUB had the privilege of learning hands-on technique of mooting from this workshop.

The opening and closing sessions of the event were graced by the presence of Prof. Milan Pagon, VC (In Charge), IUB; Prof. Borhan Uddin Khan, Adviser, Department of Law, IUB; other representatives from the US Department of Justice; and faculties and students of IUB's Department of Law.


IBA professor attends int'l fellowship programme

Prof.  Dr. Syed Ferhat Anwar, Director, Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, is visiting Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, USA, under Herman B Wells - M. O. Ghani Faculty Fellowship Program.

He left Dhaka on September 25, 2018 for the Fellowship and will return on October 20, 2018. He is expected to work on prospects to build relationship between IBA and Kelley School of Business. The fellowship is sponsored by Osman Yousuf, son of Dr. M. O. Ghani.
