SHADES

Sunglasses are important.

It’s hot out there. Considering you live in an apartment that’s cramped between other apartments on every side, you probably don’t get much sunlight inside your room. The moment you walk out on the road, though, the bright rays hit your eyes, blinding you instantly. You squint in agony, maybe even hold up your arm for momentary respite, but it’s too late. That middle-aged auntie/neighbour/chairperson of the apartment society has spotted you and wants to ask how your studies are going.

Sunglasses are important.

It’s more than about just fashion, really. You’re on the rickshaw on your way to work. Far ahead, you find the boro bhai who used to be your idol before you realised he wasn’t all that cool. Or you locate that girl you kinda fancy. The frames of your New Market-bought Ray Ray sunglasses (polarised, of course) provides enough surface area for you to see them up close, all the while keeping your head straight. They might be wondering if you’re looking at them; let’s keep that a surprise, shall we?

Sunglasses are important.

It’s a prop. Sometimes we really act blinded by all the truth surrounding us. All the world’s a stage, remember?
