How to be liked by your teachers

One of the most difficult components of university life is not knowing whether the teacher likes you or not. You often hear the statement, “I did not get my desired marks because the teacher absolutely hates me.” So, when you did not get what you deserved on that quiz you studied the whole night for, that is also the excuse you end up giving your parents.

However, there are a few foolproof plans to make your teachers like you so that you can be the object of everyone's envy.

COME UP WITH BETTER EXCUSES

If you are late to class, or you skip a class because real memories are made outside the classroom, make sure you come up with better excuses than “I'm sorry but my dog died.” Even if your dog did die, do not mention that because chances are you will be asked how many more dogs you have and how many more times the teacher has to hear this excuse. Honesty is never the best policy; it will not get you far.

BE LOVED BY TEACHERS, HATED BY OTHERS

Be that person in class that raises their hands (yes, both of them) and reminds the teacher of how they forgot to collect the homework. Now if you forgot to do your homework, follow advice number one: do not say that the dog ate your homework. Teachers love seeing you take the initiative to accept your mistakes and make sure you tell them that this is the very last time you forgot to do your homework. They definitely love hearing that.

Another way to catch your teacher's eye in every class is to continuously keep talking. You need to keep asking your teacher questions that make others groan. Trust me, it's when the others are groaning and throwing imaginary daggers at you that you know you are on the right track. Bonus points to you if the teacher chides the rest of the class because they said your question was moronic. At the end of the day, you need to set your priorities straight.

KNOW YOUR TEACHERS

In order to build rapport with your teachers you need to first get to know them. The best way to do that is obviously through their social media. You may think you have wasted nearly an eternity stalking your crush online to no avail, but now you have the necessary skills to dig stuff up on your teachers. Find out how many cats, dogs, or children they have and strike up a conversation about how much you love their animals and how adorable you think their children are. The teacher will for sure be pleased to know that you take such active interest in their personal lives.

CELEBRATE THEM

You have to remember that your teachers do not exist to ruin your lives and taking the same classes every three months gets cumbersome. So, make their day by celebrating how wonderful they are: bake cakes or bring gifts for your teacher to their office. In that way, you can show your gratitude but your teacher can also show their colleagues how loved and appreciated they are and honestly that makes a world of a difference.

It may be quite difficult to follow all these steps meticulously in order to be the model student in front of your teachers but it is totally worth a shot if it will get you the edge that no else in the class has.
