In a recent interview, actor Jake Gyllenhaal talked about how his Brokeback Mountain co-star, the late Heath Ledger disliked people ridiculing the said film. The Ang Lee directed film was set in the 1960s, and surrounded two sheep herders in Wyoming, who fall in love. In the interview, Jake said, “I see people who have joked with me or criticised me about lines I say in that movie. That’s the thing I loved about Heath. He would never joke.” He further added that the late actor would shut down anyone who tried to joke about the film, saying that it’s “about love”. The film, which was sometimes wrongly labelled as just a “gay cowboy movie”, had won three Oscars in 2006, and received notable praise from critics and audiences alike.
