Peeping Tom

What once started as a medium to raise awareness about mental health, has taken quite the turn now. That’s right; the fan-favourite drama series, 13 Reasons Why is now a murder mystery. At least that’s what can be deciphered from the obscure trailer of the third season. While the entire first season was about the thirteen reasons behind the suicide of Hannah Baker, the second season delved deep into the aftermath. Even though the closing off of the second season didn’t give us much as to how the show will proceed, it did leave us all in a state of despair. A school shooting, a lost legal battle, an arrest and what not! So, what can we expect from the third season? In the brief trailer, we see some students of Liberty High gather around the burial site of our neighbourhood jock rapist, Bryce Walker. The words, “Who killed Bryce Walker?” then appear on the screen. The real question here should be, “Who cares?”, as can be seen in the comment section of the trailer. Fans are outraged that people are mourning the death of Bryce, whose personality was as revolting as his actions. If you are new to this show, and don’t know what to expect from the third season, there are thousands of fan theories you can read through. Some say that Hannah may not be present in the upcoming season, while others say we will get to see more of her. Was Hannah pregnant when she killed herself? Was season two set in 2019? Will Justin be killed? Was the school shooting a figment of Clay’s imagination? Will season three feature messages via carrier pigeons? These are just some of the questions on everyone’s mind. Let’s hope that they will be answered when the third season premieres on August 23, 2019, on Netflix.
