India likely to continue with Shastri

India’s cricket board is not looking for foreign coaches and Ravi Shastri is going to continue in his role as head coach, reports from Indian media suggested.

IANS quoted a Cricket Advisory (CAC) member as saying that Shastri will continue at the helm.

“We are not keen on bringing a foreign coach. If someone of the stature of Gary Kirsten applied, we might have given it a thought. But even then, an Indian would always have been the top priority. The team has done well under an Indian head coach, so why look for a change. As things stand now, Shastri does look to be the favourite to be handed a fresh contract,” the CAC member said.

The CAC, which consists of Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy, have been appointed to select the next coach of India.
