The Daily Star registered their first victory in the ongoing Summit-DRU Media Cup Cricket six-a-side tournament after they defeated Jagonews24.com by two wickets at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium today.

Chasing 51 in six overs, Daily Star made a mockery of the target as Rafiul Islam showed flashes of his cricketing heyday by smashing 33 runs, and took his team home in 3.3 overs. Earlier, he bowled two overs, gave away only eight runs and grabbed a wicket to peg back Jago news.

Rafiul was adjudged the man of the match for his outstanding performance. Daily Star skipper Hasan Jahid Tusher was not out on eight runs when his side crossed the finish line.

The Summit-DRU Media Cup Cricket tournament is being held at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium in Dhaka with 48 media houses taking part.

The champion team will receive Tk 50,000, the runners-up team will get Tk 30,000 while there will also be monetary awards for the two losing semifinalists.
